LOWER SCHOOL OVERVIEW:
Lower School – The Lower School consists of Pre-Kindergarten (sections for two/three and four-year-olds), Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade, Third Grade and Fourth Grade. Beaufort Academy is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment in which each student can fulfill his or her potential in all areas of development. Small classes allow for more personal interaction between teacher, child, and parents. Teachers strive to challenge each child as they provide opportunities for students to work individually and in groups to become problem solvers and independent thinkers. The Lower School utilizes the traditional sequential approach in language arts and mathematics, with the expectation that each student will achieve at or above grade level. Science and social studies instruction utilizes traditional textbooks and classroom activities supplemented with extensive use of community resources. Enrichment in art, music, computers, media skills, foreign language, study skills, and physical education is also fundamental to the Lower School program.

An After- Care program is available Monday through Friday from 2:45 until 5:30 pm for our Pre-Kinder 3 students through 4 grades for an additional fee. Students on the main campus are bused to the Kinder building after their school day is complete. We have two highly competent staff members who run the program. Children complete homework, have a snack, and participate in unstructured play both inside and out!
