UPPER SCHOOL
CURRICULUM:![]() A minimum of twenty-four academic credits is required to earn a diploma. See the Beaufort Academy Blue Book regarding the Honors diploma. Courses designated as Honors or Advanced Placement earn weighted grade points. A unit of credit is earned for successful completion of a full year of work in a course. Half credits are earned in semester courses. There are eight academic periods, and students are required to enroll in six courses each semester, five of which should be core academic or required courses. Students should complete the following minimum requirements during grades nine through twelve unless otherwise exempted: English - four credits, plus demonstration of competency in grammar and composition skills History - three credits, including U.S. History, U.S. Government, and Economics Mathematics - four credits, including Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry Science - three credits, including Biology and Chemistry Foreign Language - three credits, through level three of the same language Health and Physical Education - one credit Public Speaking – one-half credit Arts - one credit, usually two semester courses Additional Courses – four and one-half credits (download this page in .pdf format) |
