UPPER SCHOOL OVERVIEW:

The Upper School at Beaufort Academy seeks to empower its students by providing them with the academic and personal skills needed to meet and overcome life's challenges, and thus prepare them for a world characterized by increasing competition. Whether it is the college matriculation process, college itself, or the changing job market, today's student must be ready to negotiate a vast array of educational and professional options.

This requires both a self-motivated, investigative spirit as well as a willingness to learn from the experience and knowledge of others. Striking a balance between demanding, encouraging, and allowing for individual initiative, the teachers and courses at Beaufort Academy help students learn the most effective ways to develop and maximize their abilities. The rigorous core curriculum is supported by an array of electives, ranging from AP Psychology to Studio Art I and II to Mandarin.

Sports include baseball, basketball, football, golf, soccer, swimming, tennis, softball, cheerleading and volleyball. The Film Club, annual drama production, Aware, Student Government Association, and other activities afford students a whole variety of avenues through which to participate in the greater life of Beaufort Academy.

Both inside and outside the classroom, through academics, athletics, and activities, Beaufort Academy students face multi-layered challenges which demand intellectual, spiritual, and physical growth.
