The many benefits of yoga for children include improving strength, flexibility and balance through body awareness development. Children learn how to use their bodies in a healthy way, as well as manage stress through breathing, meditation, and movement. Yoga helps to build core strength, concentration, increase confidence and promotes a healthy and positive self image. Children of all athletic abilities are able to feel part of a healthy, non competitive group. And, attention to yoga helps children learn to tune out the electronic stimulus that abound in society today. Elizabeth Vanderpool is a former Montessori teacher who now owns and runs Artizen Yoga, a wonderfully successful yoga studio in Beaufort. Elizabeth has a wide variety of yoga teaching certifications, including a specialty in children's yoga. She is able to adapt her extensive training to offer the most effective yoga practices for children.
