Academic Quiz Bowl:
Teams of seventh and eighth graders compete for the SCISA Academic Quiz Bowl in areas of mathematics, science, history, English, and current events.
Book Club:
Fifth and sixth graders meet during lunch to discuss a selected reading. Students make banners for statewide literary competition.
Chess:
Open to students in grades 5 – 8. Students learn the rudiments of chess and compete in community and tournaments.
Debate:
Teams of selected seventh and eighth graders compete on an assigned topic in the SCISA State Literary meet in February.
Drama:
Thespians in grades 5 – 8 perform one-act plays throughout the school year. One group is selected to participate in the SCISA One-Act Play competition in January.
Film Club:
Students in grades 5 – 8 create movies and film special events at Beaufort Academy.
Math Team:
Team comprised of seventh and eighth graders competes in the SCISA Math Team Competition in October.
Music:
Musically gifted students meet in grades 5 – 8 plan musical presentations for the school.
Newspaper:
Open to students in grades 5 – 8. Offers opportunities for reporting on current school events, creative writing, and photography.
Spelling Bee:
Selected students in grades 3 – 8 compete for state recognition in the SCISA Spelling Bee competition. Regional winners go on to compete in the State Spelling Bee.
