The Beaufort Academy swim team competes during the Fall Season within SCISA Region AA-AAA. The team consists of male and female students in grades 6-12, and practices at the Beaufort County Pool located on Lady's Island, near Beaufort High, from 4-6pm, Monday-Thursday.
All students who are interested are encouraged to participate! The team works hard, with training including dryland and stretching in addition to pool time, but also has a lot of fun. The program encourages strong teamwork, self confidence, the development of strokes and technique, and a good time for all!

Boys Team - 2007 State Champions! (first in school history)
Coaching
The teams are coached by Bethany Byrne. She has been with the teams for the last four seasons, and has enjoyed much success as more students become attracted to swimming and the teams continue to grow. Coach Byrne was most recently named the 2007 SCISA Swim Coach of the Year for Boys and Girls swimming, and the 2007 HSSR Swim Coach of the Year for Boys and Girls swimming. She was also recognized by the Beaufort Gazette as the 2006 Fall Sports Girls Coach of the Year and the 2007 Fall Sports Boys Coach of the Year.
Coach Byrne has gained experience from many wonderful coaches over the years! Taught by her mother, she grew up swimming in Arizona, and joined the Glendale Gauchos at age 10. Coach Byrne went on to swim for the University of Missouri, and after a 7-year break began competing again with the Beaufort Master Swim Team. She also taught swimming lessons for 10 years in Arizona.
