Beaufort Academy is excited to announce the revival of the BA cheerleading program.  "School spirit is a quality that Beaufort Academy can be proud of and we now have a program dedicated to maintaining and improving it. This year will be focused on building a foundation, and cheering for the other sports teams, and next year we will begin competition cheerleading for students in grades 6th through 12th," says BA Athletic Director, Nick Field. "We are excited to welcome Coach Tammy Gates as the new head coach for cheerleading. Coach Gates is a great role model for the kids in the program, and brings with her knowledge and experience in the sport."

Tammy Gates is a native Beaufortonian.  She graduated from Beaufort Academy in 1994, where she was a varsity cheerleader and played softball.  She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina's Darla Moore School of Business in marketing and management.

Professionally, Tammy is the Communications Manager for Cru Military, an International Christian ministry that serves the U.S. military and the militaries of 32 countries.  She and her husband, Bryan, were League Directors for Upward Sports from 2009-2016 where she coached cheerleading for grades K4-6th.  Bryan and Tammy have two children that attend Beaufort Academy, Riley (11th grade) and Andrew (8th grade).

Gates says, "Once a cheerleader, always a cheerleader! It is so exciting to hear "official" chants and cheers coming from the BA gym again! I look forward to the opportunity to work with and get know the amazing group of young athletes. They are going to bring so much spirit and enthusiasm to the games!"
